Special effects supervisor Cliff Culley said: “They bought a real laser in, which looked great. It had a pencil-thin line, but as soon as you turned all the studio lights on, it disappeared. So John Stears and his special effects team made up this fake one, and we optically put the laser beam on afterwards.”
